Hello! I'm Dr. Joseph Rodriguez, and this is my professional website. I'm a scholar of English literature, specializing in the Middle Ages. I am currently an Instructor in the English Department at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, KS. I have previously taught at both Central Methodist University (online only) and at the University of Iowa; I received my doctorate in English from the latter in 2012.
For more information on me, my research, and my teaching, see the menu on the left.
In addition to serving as my professional web presence, this is also home to two projects that, as they come closer to completion, I hope will be of use both to medieval scholars and to members of the general public who are interested in the Middle Ages. One, The Gog/Magog Project, will serve as a repository for medieval and modern references to and discussion of the apocalyptical biblical figures Gog and Magog and the British giant Gogmagog. The other, The Word-Hoard, will act as an entry-level primer to the Anglo-Saxon language of Old English—the language of Beowulf and many other works of poetic and prose art.
I am also currently working on another literature project completely unrelated to my primary period of study: The Galsworthy Compendium, a digital archive devoted to the life, works, and reception of Nobel Prize-winning British author John Galsworthy.
Most recent update, 13 January 2015: Updated About Me, Publications, and Conferences and Pedagogy. Updates have been nonexistent for the past year and a half, as I have been seeking full-time employment and all the books I use have been in storage. Now that I have a permanent position at Haskell, I plan on updating this site much more regularly.
